Calling all cat lovers from Miami to Hong Kong. We have a trendy new exercise that you’re going to love! Cat yoga. It’s exactly what it sounds like, doing yoga poses with your furry companion. If you’re a fitness fanatic and pet lover, this is a wonderful way to bond with your cat and get a workout in at the same time.

Health benefits of yoga

Believe it or not, yoga is a very healthy and relaxing exercise for humans. It consists of stretching, breathing and meditating which relaxes various muscle groups and connects the mind and body in an unbelievable way. Yoga has a mountain of physical health benefits including:

  • Reduction in blood pressure
  • Toning and strengthening muscles
  • Helping people with insomnia
  • Improved energy
  • Improved heart health
  • Weight loss

As you can see, there are many reasons why one would want to participate in yoga. However, like I said yoga is all about mind and body. Not only can yoga help with concentration issues you may have, but it can also reduce stress and all around improve your well-being. Pretty cool right? Okay that’s enough talk about old-school yoga, you came here to read about cat yoga!

Bond with your cat

I don’t know about you, but I love spending time with my cat. From playing with their favorite toys to sleeping in the same bed, bonding with our furry companions is one of the best feelings in the world.

Remember how I said stretching is a major aspect of yoga? Well guess what? CAT’S LOVE TO STRETCH! My cat probably stretches a full 2 hours per day. It’s one of her favorite activities besides eating wet food. Just like yoga, cats are really good at soothing and improving your mental health. As you can see, cats are naturally a good fit for yoga.

If there’s one thing I’m positive about, it’s that cats love attention. From the moment you start stretching on the yoga mat, your cat will be right there with you (or on top of you). When doing various yoga poses, your cat will either be doing a yoga pose of their own or chasing after pony tails.

Don’t have a cat? That’s okay, support cat adoption!

Cat Yoga is a hot trend right now. Yoga studios around the world are starting to host sessions where you are surrounded by kitties.

I’ve even heard of pet adoption centers hosting cat yoga – where you can fall in love with a cat and bring it home with you. Even if you aren’t looking to adopt a cat, you can still participate and leave a donation to support the cause. Personally, I love the idea of this and hope more places keep opening up with a similar approach. Search Google for “cat yoga near me” and see what results come up. Don’t be surprised if there is a studio or adoption center close by that offers cat yoga, like I said it’s becoming very popular!

What are you waiting for? Bond with your cat today with some cat yoga!
